This 4 week course is a fun and scientific exploration of life, the universe and everything. Our goal is to cultivate a more meaningful relationship to nature, see more beauty, experience more gratitude, and participate more fully in the living matrix of Earth. We will also see how the latest scientific understandings can help shape a richer culture and a better future for ourselves and all life on Earth.
Join our scientist-in-residence, Dr. Rich Blundell, for an exciting dive into Oika for Earthlings. Oika refers to the relational intelligence of nature that can be perceived and expressed through humans. In this weekly, 90 minute online class we will take a deep dive into the principles and practices of Oika.
In each session, we will gather virtually to view and discuss short films on Oika topics and explore the science of ecological intelligence. Toward the end of the course, on April 29th, you are invited to join Rich on an Earth Story Walk that traces out the entire story of the universe as a hike through Nantucket trails.
Week one (): What does the physics of the early universe tell us about the interconnectivity of all things? How does light become us?
Week two (): We’ll explore a cosmic zoo of celestial features to see how humans may join the family of galactic phenomena
Week three (): A special planet emerges as a home for new kinds of life and intelligence to flourish. Life goes wild in animal bodies and a riot of ecologies awakens "endless forms most beautiful"
**Option to join Rich on-island for an "Earth Story Walk."
Week four (): We explore the human dynamics of Oika and tie it all together through "Earthling Theory."
